Sarah Sanders: The ‘ridiculous’ Democrat impeachment push is fueling Trump’s campaign

Democrats rushed headlong into impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump on Tuesday, based solely on anonymous reports of a “whistleblower” complaint that was premised on second-hand hearsay.

Former White House press secretary Sarah Sanders could only chuckle at the absurdity of it all. So far, she says, the furor has only served as an “in-kind contribution” to President Trump’s 2020 re-election campaign by rallying his base and spurring donations.

“Ridiculous”

In an appearance on “Fox & Friends” Thursday morning, Sanders came out with her take on the rapidly developing impeachment effort by House Democrats — which, in essence, boils down to little more than Democrat rage over Trump’s interest in investigating alleged corruption in Ukraine involving former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter.

“The idea that they thought there was going to be some type of major ‘bombshell’ to come out of this is, frankly, embarrassing for the Democrats,” Sanders said. “I think it’s one of the dumbest and most ridiculous political moves that we’ve seen in history, how they have forced impeachment over this issue.”

“The fact is, I think this should be looked at as an in-kind contribution to the president’s re-election campaign because all this is doing is helping fuel his campaign. They’re raising more money, they’re rallying his base, and they’re unifying the Republican Party in a way that only they can by attacking this president the way they do, time and time again,” she continued.

“It is absurd that they continue to go down this road and haven’t learned anything new from it,” Sanders said. “I think the big loser in all of this process has to be Joe Biden. He is coming out and looking terrible, so far the only inappropriate behavior that I’m seeing in this entire thing is that of Vice President Joe Biden in order to help his son.”

Democrat playbook

Sanders drew parallels between this new Ukraine-related Democratic outrage and the years-long Russian collusion narrative that was ultimately revealed to be a hoax.

“I think this is exactly out of the Democrats’ playbook. They used a fake scandal with Russia, now they’re trying to create a fake scandal with Ukraine,” Sanders said. “It doesn’t matter who the actors are, the real bad players in all of this process are the Democrats trying to fool American voters.”

“The good thing is, the American voters are far too smart to fall for the Democrat lies,” she added.

Sanders went on to point out the contrast between President Trump’s display of leadership at the United Nations General Assembly meetings over the week while the Democrats were “playing games” on “fake scandals” and impeachment.
