A New York-based rapper known as Takeshi 6ix9ine (pronounced “six-nine”) recently walked out of court with a mere four years probation on a child sex charge stemming from an incident in 2015 — but as the rapper and his entourage celebrated the light sentence at a restaurant later in the evening, a dispute erupted that ended with one of Hernandez’s bodyguards getting shot in the abdomen.

The bodyguard was transported to a hospital and was reported to be in stable condition following surgery.

Meeting gone wrong

TMZ reported that 6ix9ine, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, was set to meet with an executive of the 10K Projects record company at the restaurant, but the executive’s security detail balked at allowing the rapper’s entourage to sit in on the meeting as well.

An argument between the two security details ensued, and it wasn’t long before there was gunfire.

TMZ first reported that a retired police officer had been involved in the incident, though it was later clarified by anonymous law enforcement sources that the retired officer was part of the security detail for the record company executive.

It is unclear if Hernandez will be charged in the incident. A judge had warned him earlier in the day that his probation could lead to jail time if the rapper couldn’t stay out of trouble.

Dispute turns violent

New York Police Department (NYPD) sources said that when the dispute first arose over the inclusion of the rapper’s entourage in the meeting with the executive, Hernandez and his family were escorted back to their vehicle.

However, members of the entourage were said to have immediately returned to the restaurant to confront the executive — and that is when the executive’s security stepped in.

A fight broke out, and one of the entourage members smashed a chair over the executive’s bodyguard, who subsequently drew his weapon and opened fire, striking Hernandez’s bodyguard in the abdomen.

Fox News reported that the NYPD has confirmed that there is an ongoing investigation into the incident.

It remains to be seen if the executive’s bodyguard who opened fire on the rapper’s bodyguard will face any charges, or if the shooting will be deemed a justifiable act of self-defense.

Further, it remains to be seen if this incident will constitute enough “trouble” for Hernandez to compel the judge to revoke the light sentence of probation for child sex charges and send the rapper to prison to serve his time.
