McCain spars with Behar on ‘The View’ after Trump criticism is injected into Bush tribute

The liberal co-hosts of ABC’s The View have a negative and unhealthy obsession with President Donald Trump, especially Joy Behar. No matter how unrelated the topic, it’s rare when the conversation doesn’t take a Trump-bashing turn.

That happened yet again on Monday as Behar used the death of former President George H.W. Bush to attack Trump over climate change. Sparks flew when conservative co-host Meghan McCain demanded Behar stick to the topic at hand — grieving the loss of a former president.

Behar: Bush vs. Trump

As the panel offered up their thoughts on the late president, who died last week, Behar launched into a comparison of Bush’s stance on climate change as opposed to Trump.

“I want to say one thing about (Bush) that was not picked up really, because as a candidate he said, ‘those who think we’re powerless to do anything about the greenhouse effect are forgetting about the White House effect,’” said Behar. “And then he signed into law the Clean Air Act amendment of 1990, one of the most sweeping environmental statutes, ever.”

“This president we have now is trying to unravel everything that he did and Obama did, and if I ever become a one-issue voter, it will be about pollution and the greenhouse effect and the fact that …,” Behar added, just before being cut off by McCain.

McCain returns focus to Bush

“Can we focus on the president, please?” pleaded McCain. “I don’t want to talk about Trump when we’re in a moment — when we’re honoring a great president.”

But Behar was apparently not finished with her anti-Trump screed, and angrily replied, “Excuse me! Excuse me a second, please! I wanted to talk about the differences …”

McCain interrupted again, “Okay, but we’re honoring — I’m not interested in your one-issue voter talk.”

“I don’t care what you’re interested in, I’m talking!” shouted Behar.

“Well I don’t care what you’re interested in either,” McCain shot back.

As the tempers flared, co-host Whoopi Goldberg quickly ended the segment for a commercial break, saying, “You know what, we’ll be right back.” Watch below:

Joy Behar appears to be so consumed by her hatred for Trump that she simply can’t help but find a way to negatively interject him into any topic of discussion, even during a segment eulogizing a former president.

While she stood up to Behar this time, Meghan McCain most certainly would never be confused as a fan of President Trump either. In September, she notably took shots at Trump during the funeral for her father, former Arizona Sen. John McCain, saying the “America of John McCain has no need to be made great again because it was always great.”
