Maxine Waters paying daughter with campaign funds

Make sure to let us know what you think... we now have comments turned ON below the article!

Democrat California Rep. Maxine Waters, when not chanting “Impeach 45,” often accuses President Donald Trump of being corrupt, unethical and engaging in nepotism with his family.

But it appears that Waters herself may have been engaged in her own version of corrupt and unethical nepotism involving her daughter and campaign funds.

According to The Daily Caller, financial filings with the Federal Election Commission showed that the congresswoman’s daughter stands to be paid at least $100,000 from her mother’s campaign during this current election cycle.

The FEC filings revealed that Karen Waters has already received $42,862 from the Citizens for Waters campaign since the start of 2017, and is scheduled to receive an additional $65,000 for her “professional services” on behalf of the campaign.

The issue was initially uncovered in April 2017 by the Washington Free Beacon, which noted that the “professional services” provided by the younger Waters involved management of what is known as a “slate mailer.”

The “slate mailer” was a campaign flyer sent out to constituents by Waters in the form of a sample ballot which included endorsements for politicians and groups that had contributed financially or in-kind to Waters’ campaign.

That slate mailer scheme is believed to have brought in hundreds of thousands of dollars to Waters’ campaign in each election cycle.

The Free Beacon report showed that the younger Waters had been running the operation on behalf of her mother for several campaign cycles and is believed to have received upwards of $650,000, if not more, in total from the campaign since 2006.

It was pointed out that the FEC had issued an advisory opinion to the Waters campaign in 2004 with regard to the slate mailer scheme which indicated that she was walking a fine legal line, but allowed it to continue.

The Daily Caller noted that this current election cycle has seen at least nine payments distributed to the younger Waters from the campaign which ranged from $3,000-7,000 each.

It was further noted that this isn’t the first time Waters has come under scrutiny for potentially unethical behavior, as she was actually named one of the “most corrupt” members of Congress in 2011 by the liberal watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington.

Perhaps the reason Maxine Waters doth protest so much in regard to Trump’s alleged corruption and ethical failings is because Waters is attempting to distract attention away from her own issues.
