Feinstein ‘absolutely’ in favor of reopening Kavanaugh investigation

Make sure to let us know what you think... we now have comments turned ON below the article!

If everyone thought the disgusting debacle that was the confirmation hearings of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh is over and done with, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) suggested otherwise during a debate Wednesday against her Democrat challenger, state Senate president pro tem Kevin de Leon.

Feinstein admitted that, should Democrats regain control of the Senate in the midterms, she’d be “absolutely” in favor of reopening an investigation into the vague and uncorroborated allegations of sexual misconduct lodged against Kavanaugh.

“Oh, I’d be in favor of opening up the allegations. Absolutely,” Feinstein said. De Leon, her long-shot opponent, agreed.

Feinstein would control judiciary committee

Feinstein is the ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee. Were Democrats to obtain a majority in the Senate following the midterm elections, the 85-year-old would become the chair of the committee and be able to dictate the committee’s agenda going forward.

That means Kavanaugh would be investigated again and virtually all of President Donald Trump’s remaining judicial nominations would be dead in the water while Democrats were in charge.

Feinstein has been accused of sitting for months on a letter sent to her by Christine Blasey Ford which alleged sexual misconduct by the then-nominee in high school, allegations Feinstein only brought forward at the last moment, after all other attempts to derail Kavanaugh’s nomination had failed.

The last-minute allegations from Ford, which appear to have been leaked to the media from Feinstein’s staff, gave rise to other more implausible allegations of misconduct and criminal behavior,  transforming Kavanaugh’s confirmation from being merely contentious to an atrocious, sordid smear campaign against the eminently qualified judge.

Graham issues a warning

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), who vehemently chastised his Democrat colleagues for their treatment of Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearings, said of Feinstein’s remarks during a Wednesday appearance on Fox News, “Apparently one kick of a mule is not enough for Senator Feinstein.”

“Here’s what I want every Democratic candidate for the Senate to be asked tomorrow: Do you agree with Dianne Feinstein? Are you for more humiliation, degrading treatment of this fine man? Are you for continuing this debacle?” asked Graham.

It’s certainly a question the Democrats should answer. But it’s also a warning to Republican voters of what may be coming if Democrats are allowed to win in November.

If Democrats regain a majority in the Senate in the midterms, everything that has been happening for the past two years will come to a screeching halt.

Current investigations will be abruptly closed, while new ones are opened in their place. Any agenda item put forward by President Trump will be blocked or ignored for the next two years. And forget about confirming any more justices.

Thanks to Feinstein’s slip, we know that the Democrats aren’t done trying to destroy Justice Kavanaugh just yet. They’ll gladly try again if voters foolishly give them that chance by granting them control of the Senate.
