In blow to Mueller probe, report reveals Trump Jr. called colleagues near time of Trump Tower meeting – not his father

In July 2016, Donald Trump, Jr. and other top Trump campaign associates allegedly met with Russian lobbyists at Trump Tower in New York. Since news of the meeting was first publicized, Democrats and the mainstream media have fought tooth and nail to convince the public that President Donald Trump knew of the meeting — but in a blow to Robert Mueller’s ongoing probe into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin, that theory was just debunked.

Even CNN was forced to admit their mistake when sources connected to Senate Intelligence Committee investigators revealed that three phone calls Don Jr. made near the time of the meeting to blocked numbers were made to his friends and business associates — not his father.

Many Democrats had previously suggested that President Trump learned of the meeting during those calls, but the president has maintained that he did not know of the meeting at the time.

“Mysterious” phone calls?

ABC News and The New York Times reported that the blocked calls on Trump Jr.’s phone were between him and two wealthy colleagues: NASCAR CEO Brian France and business investor Howard Lorber.

Two of those calls were made a couple days prior to the now-infamous meeting. The third took place mere hours afterward.

For his part, the president wasted no time in verifying reports that his eldest son, Don Jr., did not call him to tell him about the meeting. He tweeted on Friday:

Democrat narrative debunked

Indeed, the report is “Really sad!” — but not just for the reporters and pundits who perpetuated the fake news about the Trump family. Hardest hit by this report were the president’s critics in Congress, including Democrat Rep. Adam Schiff (CA), who chairs the House Intelligence Committee, and Sen. Dianne Feinstein (CA), the senior Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Schiff had long maintained that he believed the blocked phone calls were between the president and his son and that they discussed the Trump Tower meeting in them.

He also repeatedly vowed to fully investigate the matter and had sharply criticized his Republican colleagues — particularly fellow committee member Rep. Devin Nunes (CA) — for not looking deeper into the allegations when Republicans were in charge.

Of course, Trump Jr. testified to the House Intelligence Committee in 2017 that his father wasn’t on the other end of those phone calls, but Democrats and the media dismissed his testimony and even accused him of perjury.

It’s clear that Dems aren’t concerned with the truth; they’re concerned with taking the president and his family down. When will their incessant Trump-bashing come to an end?
