Anti-Trump comedian Amy Schumer cancels show after being hospitalized for pregnancy complications

Amy Schumer has been a vocal critic of President Donald Trump — and even protested Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court confirmation — but that’s not why she’s in the headlines this week.

Schumer recently canceled a date on her comedy tour after complications from pregnancy landed her in the hospital.

Schumer, who is expecting her first child with husband Chris Fischer, is battling hyperemesis gravidarum, which Fox News likened to “extreme morning sickness.”

Extreme morning sickness

In a post to Instagram from her hospital bed, Schumer, who is 37, apologized to fans who intended to attend her Nov. 15 show in Dallas, TX.

Texas I am so deeply sorry,” she wrote. “I have been really looking forward to these shows. I have to reschedule. I am in the hospital.”

She added: “I’m fine. Baby’s fine but everyone who says the 2nd trimester is better is not telling the full story. I’ve been even more ill this trimester. I have hyperemesis and it blows. Very lucky to be pregnant but this is some b*******!”

She went on to thank the “doctors and nurses taking great care of me and Tati! They are cool as hell! And Texas I am really really sorry and I’ll be out there as soon as I’m better,” she remarked.

An ironic pregnancy

People magazine reported earlier this month that Schumer has been discussing her pregnancy as part of her comedy routine, noting how much tougher it has been than she expected.

Schumer also mentioned that her pregnancy — which was only revealed to the public in late October — was one of the main reasons she joined the protests against Kavanaugh, who received criticism from the left over his perceived stance on abortion and Roe v. Wade.

Amy Schumer has seen a resurgence in her career by tacking hard to the ideological left and attacking President Trump and his supporters with all of her might, but a tough stretch through her pregnancy may force her to slow down temporarily.

No worries, though — she will no doubt be back to excoriating the president sooner than later.
