Trump calls ousted assistant a ‘very good person’

President Donald Trump said in a tweet Saturday that he forgave his assistant for making unflattering statements to reporters about his family.

Trump said he couldn’t keep his executive assistant, Madeline Westerhout, after she reportedly told members of the media that she had a better relationship with Trump than his own daughters.

She also claimed that Trump didn’t want to be in photos with his daughter Tiffany because he perceived her as being overweight, the Daily Caller reported.

While he called the claims “absolutely false,” the president seemed disappointed at losing Westerhout in this way.

Sad Situation

Once again, the press does not hesitate to attack Trump in unprecedented ways. It was generally accepted for aides to have off-the-record dinners with members of the press while Trump was traveling, but the press was not supposed to publicize what was said.

What a shame that Trump had to lose his treasured personal assistant over this. What else can the press do to try to destroy what Trump is building?

Good People

The intense scrutiny on everyone connected to Trump may be partially responsible for the high turnover rate of his administration. Very few people are built to withstand doxxing and death threats and dirty tricks by the press and others.

Trump is getting blamed for high turnover in the White House, but I’m not sure he deserves all the blame when I see how underhandedly and unfairly the press treats him on a daily basis.

How many more “good people” are going to be driven out of this administration because of the press’s hatred for Trump?

In this case, at least, however, it seems that all parties are trying to make the best of an unfortunate situation. Westerhout apologized for her “loose lips,” and Trump seems to have accepted the apology.

Imagine what Trump could get done for the country if he didn’t have to deal with all of this subterfuge and sabotage? Although I suppose, from the Democrats’ point of view, that’s just an added benefit to the whole situation.
