Trump pushes back against critics, Chuck Schumer over North Korea summit comments

President Donald Trump has received extraordinary criticism from Democrats and the liberal media in the wake of his summit in Singapore with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un.

But Trump just pushed back against his critics — particularly Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) — and revealed the hollowness of their critiques of his negotiations with a nuclear-armed enemy.

The president tweeted on Sunday:

Mighty malapropism

Sen. Schumer did indeed allege that Trump’s negotiations with Kim were “all cattle and no hat,” a complete reversal of the common saying, “all hat and no cattle,” which means somebody is all talk with no follow-through.

But Schumer’s mistaken reversal of the common phrase actually implies that Trump is all action with no empty talk.

That is obviously not what Schumer meant to say, but Trump couldn’t help but have some fun in pointing out the glaring mistake in the top Democrat’s failed effort to sound like a regular person.

Sincere success

After calling out Schumer for his mistaken critique, Trump listed off just some of what he had achieved via his negotiations with the leader of North Korea.

That would include a promised end to all nuclear and ballistic missile testing and the destruction of testing and launch sites, all of which has or will be verified.

Trump had already secured the release of three Korean-American hostages prior to the summit.

He had also secured a commitment from North Korea to assist in the recovery of the remains of U.S. soldiers who had died during the brutal 1950s Korean War and been buried where they fell in what became enemy territory.

Of course, it remains to be seen if Kim Jong Un will live up to his end of the bargain struck with Trump, but for Trump’s haters on the left to suggest that the president gained nothing from the summit would be a disingenuous maligning of the truth.

But that’s something the left is exceedingly well-known for anyway.
