There should be little debate that Antifa — the so-called “anti-fascist” movement that labels everyone to the ideological right of Karl Marx as a “fascist” — is a group of subversive troublemakers that glorifies the use of violence to achieve political change.
Given that the group fits the definition of a domestic terror organization, there have been growing demands for the federal government to do something in regard to Antifa’s violence against any and all who disagree with them — and now, decisive action may now be imminent. President Donald Trump announced via Twitter last week that he is considering designating the group a “major organization of terror.”
The president tweeted Friday:
Consideration is being given to declaring ANTIFA, the gutless Radical Left Wack Jobs who go around hitting (only non-fighters) people over the heads with baseball bats, a major Organization of Terror (along with MS-13 & others). Would make it easier for police to do their job!

“Antifa are terrorists”
The Epoch Times reported that the president’s tweet about Antifa followed the introduction of a resolution in the Senate that would officially label the group as a domestic terrorist organization. The measure was proposed by Republican Sens. Bill Cassidy of Louisiana and Ted Cruz of Texas, and served to highlight just how serious a problem Antifa’s political violence and other anti-American activities have become.
“Antifa are terrorists, violent masked bullies who ‘fight fascism’ with actual fascism, protected by Liberal privilege,” Cassidy said in a statement. “Bullies get their way until someone says no. Elected officials must have courage, not cowardice, to prevent terror.”
Sen. Cruz shared a similar sentiment. “Antifa is a terrorist organization composed of hateful, intolerant radicals who pursue their extreme agenda through aggressive violence,” he said, according to The Washington Examiner.
He went on: “Time and time again their actions have demonstrated that their central purpose is to inflict harm on those who oppose their views. Like any terrorist organization, they choose to pursue their political ends through violence, fear and intimidation. They must be stopped. I am proud to introduce this resolution with Senator Cassidy to properly identify what Antifa are: domestic terrorists.
Designation overdue
The proposed resolution, as well as the remarks from Trump, came on the heels of Antifa’s latest high-profile, violent attack in which several its members mercilessly beat and robbed an independent journalist named Andy Ngo, who has documented the group’s violent protests for the past few years.
Ngo was punched and kicked and had substances thrown at him — ostensibly only milkshakes, though there was word that quick-dry cement mix was actually used — and also had his camera and gear stolen from him at a protest in Portland, Oregon several weeks ago.
The assault landed a bloody and bruised Ngo in the hospital with a brain hemorrhage and torn earlobe, among other injuries.
Should the Trump administration and Senate formally designate Antifa as a terrorist organization, the move would undoubtedly pave the way for federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to take greater action — both proactively and reactively — against the black-clad, mask-wearing, weapons-toting, violent leftist thugs.
Hopefully, that official designation can be achieved prior to the next violent protest or attempted act of terror that could result in more innocent people getting hurt — or even killed.
