Former GOP Rep. Tom Coleman calls for impeachment of Trump

Make sure to let us know what you think... we now have comments turned ON below the article!

The predominately liberal establishment media love to highlight any voice that is critical of President Donald Trump, especially when that voice belongs to a Republican.

The latest anti-Trump voice on the right to receive such attention is that of former Missouri Rep. Tom Coleman, who last served in Congress in 1993, and who is now calling for the president’s impeachment.

“Illegitimate” president must go

CNN was only too happy to grant a platform for Coleman to air his viewpoint on Friday during an appearance on Out Front with host Erin Burnett.

“I’m calling for impeachment now because the Mueller report is out, and in it [special counsel Robert Mueller] describes 10 obstruction of justice charges that he could not bring because of a Department of Justice rule and regulation that says you can’t indict a sitting president — that’s [reason] number one,” Coleman said.

“Number two, I believe this is an illegitimate President because he welcomed help and influence from the Russians in his campaign,” he continued.

“For example, his [campaign] chairman Paul Manafort met with a Russian intelligence asset in New York and shared with him their polling information and a strategy on how to win the Midwestern states,” Coleman said.

“It’s wrong and it needs to be handled and looked at by the Congress because I believe it’s an impeachable offense,” he added.

Slams both Trump and Pence

Coleman drew attention with an op-ed he wrote for The Kansas City Star in which he characterized Trump’s tenure in the White House as an “illegitimate presidency” that should be brought to an end via impeachment, if not through removal by way of the 25th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

The former congressman also wrote in his piece that Vice President Mike Pence, by virtue of his association with Trump, was also “illegitimate” and shouldn’t be permitted to succeed Trump in the event he is impeached.

In fact, Coleman demanded that Pence also be impeached or forced to resign.

Trouble on the right flank

It has been obvious since Trump first announced his candidacy in 2015 that the political establishment — on both sides of the aisle — wanted nothing to do with him or his agenda to upset the status quo.

Though much of the animus against the president emanates from the left, there are obviously still some on the right that refuse to accept Trump as well, and media outlets like CNN are more than willing to provide a lending hand as the proverbial knife is thrust into his back.
