Sean Hannity slams Robert Mueller’s ‘unfair’ investigation: ‘He’s not even trying to appear fair’

Though President Donald Trump has refrained from taking any overt actions to fire or otherwise interfere with the Robert Mueller-led special counsel investigation into alleged collusion between the Kremlin and the 2016 Trump campaign team, the president certainly hasn’t refrained from repeatedly expressing his critical view of the team of “angry Democrats” that Mueller has assembled around him.

Fox News host Sean Hannity joined in on that criticism during his self-titled Fox News program on Friday, launching into a diatribe lamenting just how blatantly biased and partisan Mueller’s “unfair” investigation really is.

During his show’s Opening Statement, Hannity focused in on three “serious issues” he saw with the Mueller investigation, including the partisan makeup of Mueller’s investigative team, that team’s focus on a “single man” — Trump — “rather than an actual crime,” and the blatant and ever-present “double standard” by which liberal figures seem to skate on their alleged crimes while Republican figures undergo thorough investigations and prosecution.

Team of partisan Democrats

On the first issue, Hannity pointed out that Mueller’s team is largely composed of several individuals known to be “major Democratic donors” and operatives, but “no Republicans.” He noted that 14 of the 17 special counsel prosecutors were registered Democrats, while not a single one was a registered member of the GOP.

“At this point, Robert Mueller may as well have hired Maxine Waters and Elizabeth Warren,” Hannity said, referencing a California congresswoman and a Massachusetts senator who have each been exceptionally outspoken against the president.

Hannity added of Mueller: “He’s not even trying to appear fair, and it’s no wonder that from the very beginning, this investigation has centered around one man, and one man only, and that’s your president, Donald Trump.”

The Fox News host also reminded viewers that the communist Soviet Union used to investigate specific people to find crimes for which they could be charged, the opposite of how America is supposed to operate (we investigate specific crimes and attempt to find the responsible perpetrator, not the other way around).

Hannity suggested that Mueller’s team was investigating Trump and his various associates in search of crimes, even creating “process crimes” to charge them with when no real crimes could be found. It is worth noting that none of the crimes found — or created — have anything to do with alleged collusion during the 2016 election.

Two-tiered Justice system

Hannity went on to decry the “disgusting, despicable, two-tiered system of justice” in which Republicans like Trump and his associates are “aggressively pursued for months on end” for prosecution while Democrats accused of committing crimes are allowed to “get away scot-free.”

“Every American should be very concerned and worried by what is a completely unfair precedent in this country,” he warned.

Hannity was absolutely correct in noting the obvious partisanship and conflicts of interest that plague Mueller’s team, the targeting of specific people to dig up unsubstantiated “crimes” to prosecute them for, and the blatant double-standard by which the full weight of the law is hoisted on Republicans while Democrats seemingly escape justice.

This is a travesty of our judicial system that must be corrected.
