Nancy Pelosi says Dems must ‘be ready to throw a punch’ in 2020 election

It has been asserted by some, with supporting evidence to back it up, that Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is steadily losing her grasp on power and is on the verge of being pushed aside as her party’s leader.

However, it appears that Pelosi is not willing to go without a fight, given that she recently told those in attendance at her speech to the Democratic National Committee’s summer meeting that it may be time to “throw a punch” in the upcoming political brawl that is the 2020 election.

Pelosi talks tough

Fox News reported that Pelosi’s call to action was in relation to a broader warning she issued to her fellow Democrats about the upcoming “tough fight” in the 2020 election as her party seeks to unseat President Donald Trump.

“This is going to be a tough election because for them it is about money,” Pelosi said of the Republican opposition. “They’ll put up any amount of money to protect their investments of degrading the environment, and the rest, guns, and all that.”

“So you have to be ready to take a punch. You gotta be ready to take the punch,” she continued. “And therefore you have to be ready to throw a punch — for the children. Throw a punch for the children.”

“So are we ready to win? Have we decided that we’re gonna debate our differences, unify behind our candidates? Are we going to strengthen our majority in the House, to win the United States Senate for the American people, to win the White House for America, for our children, for the future?” Pelosi asked in a bid to rally her party base.

All about the money

Considering all of the recent debate about the danger of harsh political rhetoric leading to actual violence, Pelosi’s decision to speak about trading punches in relation to the 2020 election season seems rather ill-advised.

Furthermore, given her party’s ghoulish stance in support of murdering unborn babies up until, if not even right after, the moment of birth, her suggestion that punches will need to be thrown on behalf of “the children” is simply dripping with irony.

As for Pelosi’s remarks about Republicans and money in terms of the upcoming election, she may have inadvertently touched on a salient point, as the Democrats are at a distinct disadvantage to their Republican counterparts in that regard.

Fox News reported that the Republican National Committee raised roughly $20.8 million over the month of July, while the Democratic National Committee raised only $7.7 million over that same span of time.

According to Ballotpedia, citing totals reported to the Federal Election Commission, the RNC has raised nearly $118 million thus far in the 2019-2020 cycle and reportedly has about $46.5 million cash on hand with $0 in debt. The DNC, meanwhile, has reportedly raised only about $50.5 million, has only $9 million in cash on hand, and owes about $5.6 million as of now.

There may be punches thrown in the 2020 election, but it will be by desperate Democrats frustrated over yet another electoral defeat, and those punches will have absolutely nothing to do with concern for “the children.”
