Rush Limbaugh slams ‘Never Trumpers’ at Fox News

It has become increasingly apparent to fans of Fox News that the network isn’t what it used to be. In the era of President Donald Trump, Fox has begun to align more and more with the left — and now, Rush Limbaugh has had enough.

The conservative radio host dedicated part of his Wednesday program to discussing the controversy surrounding Trump’s July phone call with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky — and he didn’t pull any punches when it came to calling out Fox News for jumping on the liberal bandwagon.

Limbaugh lamented Wednesday that many pundits who claim to be on the political right have failed or neglected to counter the left’s narrative on the now-infamous call.

For proof, the radio star pointed to House Intelligence chair Adam Schiff’s (D-CA) ridiculous “parody” of the conversation during a recent committee hearing. The congressman fabricated quotes attributed to Trump that were purposefully designed to fit the narrative that Trump had crossed a line during the call.

“Fox Never Trumper Network”

Unfortunately, save for a handful of Republicans in Congress and on TV, few on the right have effectively pushed back against Schiff’s absurd ploy, and many hosts and guests on Fox News were seen playing right into the left’s narrative by accepting the premise that what had transpired during the call was bad — even if no particular crime or transgression could be pinpointed.

“None of what they are saying happened in that phone call did, and we’ve even got Never Trumpers now all over Fox News, ‘Well, this phone call is very hard to defend. I wouldn’t want to have to defend this phone call,'” Limbaugh mocked. Then, he got mad.

“There’s nothing hard to defend about the phone call!” he asserted. “You just don’t want to defend it!”

He went on to say “Fox really ought to change the name of the network from the Fox News Channel to the ‘Fox Never Trumper Network,’ because that’s who’s getting the highlights. And they’re bringing in Democrats like Donna Brazile,” Limbaugh added.

“Conservatism’s under assault”

Indeed, Limbaugh says the phone is “not hard to defend” — and neither is Trump. But according to the pundit, that’s not all this is about.

“If Trump is hard to defend, what about conservatism, you Never Trumpers? Can you defend that?” Limbaugh pressed. “Do you not understand that conservatism’s under assault?”

He went on: “You may not be because you’re renouncing conservatism to sidle up with these guys that you don’t want to be criticized by. So you’d rather be friends with these nincompoops on the left than have to defend your own side and defend your own beliefs!”

Of course, Fox News may have given up in that regard, but Trump’s supporters won’t be deterred. Democrats will have to find that out the hard way on Election Night 2020.
