Here’s the secret to a Trump acquittal in the Senate

The Republicans need to take a lesson from the Democrats on messaging. Since November 8, 2016, the day Donald Trump won the presidency, the Democrats have maintained that his presidency is illegitimate. They, of course, are lying, but they never, in the last 3 1/2 years, let up on that message. That message is the justification for their coup against the president.

Republican party in disarray

The Republicans haven’t been as consistent or united in their messaging. It took the Republicans quite a long time to even understand what the Democrats were doing. Some, like John McCain, Lindsey Graham and other neo-conservatives, didn’t like Trump and weren’t willing to support him. Only a few, like Devin Nunes and Trey Gowdy in the House, started in early in Trump’s presidency to expose the Democrat coup and undermine their message.

Throughout the years of the Mueller investigation, the Republicans still didn’t see or even agree about the Democrat coup. The Republicans just didn’t get that the Democrats had actually committed themselves to the destruction of a duly elected president. Their slow-wittedness cost them control of the House in the mid-term election.

The Kavanaugh Hearing unites Republicans

Republicans finally started to unite against the Democrat coup during the Kavanaugh confirmation hearing in the Senate. The whole country saw how relentless and savage the Democrats were in attacking an innocent man. How willing they were to destroy an innocent person standing in their way. How willing they were and are to lie, cheat, and destroy to get what they want.

The Kavanaugh hearing was the turning point for the Republican party, and from then the Republicans united and started to fight back against the Democrat coup.

Russia collusion debunked

The Democrat coup, now largely exposed by Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s report in December, is still going even though the report shows that there never was any real reason to start the investigation of the Trump Campaign and so-called Russia collusion.

Without a legitimate reason to start the investigation, there was no reason to move to the Mueller investigation. So the Russia collusion case is fake, which makes the Mueller investigation fake. If the Mueller investigation was fake, there can be no charge of obstruction against the president.

The Democrats never let that get them down. The Mueller investigation found no crime, but that wouldn’t stop the Democrats in their drive to impeach the president. Being the cheaters they are, all they needed was a phone call, the thinnest pretext of a theory, a witness willing to lie, the help of a willing media, some career bureaucrats, and some law professors to carry on the coup.

While in the process of abusing their power and conducting Stalinesque secret impeachment hearings, the Democrats maintained their message that Trump is corrupt, a liar, a criminal, and must be removed.

The Democrats understand the importance of staying on message

The Democrats understand the importance of staying on message. They continue to claim that Trump is a criminal, a liar, a corrupt and illegitimate president, who has cheated before and will cheat again! They stay on message whether the facts support them or not.

Republicans need to stay on message

Mitch McConnell must be more relentless in his messaging than the Democrats. He must continue to call the “impeachment” what it really is: a sham impeachment. He must continue to point out that the House Democrats have abused their power and taken a wrecking ball to the constitution. All the Republicans in Congress should be saying the same thing.

This is about more than President Trump, it is about the Constitution and the future of the nation

The Senate Republicans must not dignify this sham in the Senate. They must not allow it to set a new precedent for the Democrats to use on future Republican presidents.

The Republican party needs to continue to beat the drum that the impeachment is a sham, is false, is dangerous and must be treated as it is: illegitimate. It must never be dignified with the cover of constitutionality.

This is a messaging war, and the Democrats are in it to win. Are the Republicans?
