The country music world was rocked by tragedy on Wednesday night when a rising star perished in a terrible accident.

Kylie Rae Harris, a 30-year-old country music singer from Texas, was pronounced dead on Wednesday after being involved in a three-car wreck in New Mexico, Fox News reported.

Accident kills rising country star

Fox reported that Harris had been en route to Taos, New Mexico to perform at a concert festival scheduled for Thursday when the accident occurred.

According to the Taos County Sheriff’s Office, there were three separate vehicles involved in the double-fatality incident, which killed Harris and a 16-year-old girl in another vehicle.

The driver of the third vehicle involved in the wreck was said to have walked away without major injuries.

Though details of the accident on State Road 522 remain sparse at this time, authorities believe that alcohol may have played a role in the incident. It is unclear, however, which of the three drivers was suspected of being under the influence.

“We are heartbroken to confirm that Kylie Rae Harris passed away in a car accident last night,” a representative for Harris said in a statement to Fox News. “We have no further details to share, and ask for privacy for her family at this time.”

Looking back

In a heartbreakingly ironic video message posted to Instagram shortly before her tragic death, Harris recalled having traveled to Taos countless times over the past couple of decades with her father and sister to visit family.

Unfortunately, Harris said only one of her uncles was still living, making the journey back to Taos for the concert an emotional one for her. No doubt, her family is now feeling that heavy heart.

Harris is survived a 6-year-old daughter and a legion of grieving fans, according to Fox.

“Everyone that knew Kylie knew how much she loved her family and, beyond that, how much she loved music,” the singer’s rep told Fox. “The best tribute to her unmatched enthusiasm for both is to spread as much love as you can today, and listen to music that fully inspires you.”
