Kellyanne Conway mocks post-election ‘trouble in paradise’ between Obama and Clinton

Senior adviser and White House counselor Kellyanne Conway, simply because of her association with President Donald Trump, has been subjected to an inordinate amount of critical media attention with regard to her marriage and personal life.

But the tables were turned on Thursday, if only for the moment, when Conway had the opportunity to mockingly point to another prominent political relationship in which it appeared that there was “trouble in paradise.”

Conway pokes fun at Obama and Clinton

Conway’s laughter came at the expense of former President Barack Obama and failed Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, specifically at the revelation that Obama had been greatly displeased at Clinton’s shocking loss to Trump in 2016.

Conway tweeted in reference to surprising details about the relationship between the two Democrats, as reported in a recently updated book.

The Trump adviser and former campaign manager also linked to an article from the Washington Examiner that shared some of the embarrassing information about Obama and Clinton.

Obama saw Clinton defeat as personal insult

The piece from the Examiner noted that the chief White House correspondent for the New York Times, Peter Baker, released an updated version of his book Obama: The Call of History, which included fresh information from around the time of the 2016 election.

Of particular interest was the book’s treatment of Obama’s confidence ahead of the election that there was “no way Americans would turn on him” by voting for Trump, and that “his legacy, he felt, was in safe hands” with regard to Clinton.

Thus, Obama was incredibly shocked and in apparent disbelief that American voters had “decided to replace him with a buffoonish showman whose calling cards had been repeated bankruptcies, serial marriages and racist dog whistles.”

Obama further viewed Clinton’s loss as a “personal insult” and was sharply critical of the “soulless campaign” she had run — a lackluster campaign that never even made it to Wisconsin and saw her make minimal, brief campaign appearances every few days in comparison to Trump’s numerous and boisterous rallies in multiple locations every single day.

There is no question that Trump, as the underdog and with the odds decisively stacked against him, simply out-hustled the entitled and self-assured Clinton who just knew she had the election in the bag.

Given the manner in which Obama’s thin legacy has already been torn asunder by Trump and will continue to be demolished as long as Trump remains in office, the former president had every right to be upset with Clinton for losing the election. Perhaps he ought to be mad at himself, too, for trusting her in the first place.
