Shocking 2nd Amendment showdown evolves in Virginia

If anyone is still having trouble believing that the Democrats have totalitarian tendencies, take a look at the Democrats in Virginia.

They believe they have a mandate to disarm law-abiding citizens. They believe the 2nd Amendment can be overturned by a Democrat majority. And they believe they can use military force to take guns away from US citizens. Virginians beg to differ.

Governor Northam promises gun-control in Virginia

The Virginians have been dealing with gun control issues for a while, but things are about to get real as the Democrats take full control of the state.

They have the majority in the legislature and Governor Ralph Northam, a Democrat, is ready to sign gun-control legislation. He has been itching to enact gun-control legislation and now he has the Democrat majority to force it on all Virginians.

Creating more criminals in Virginia

After the Democrat election victories in November, one draconian bill, SB16, has been introduced which will designate shotguns that hold more than seven shells and other long guns with certain features as assault weapons.

Handguns that meet certain criteria would be considered assault weapons, too. If the bill becomes law, it will be illegal to own or possess these weapons. Many Virginians will become criminals when and if this bill passes.

2nd Amendment Sanctuary Counties

Not all Virginians are willing to give up their firearms. In the current political climate in Virginia, many counties, knowing the Dems will pass gun-control legislation, are taking pre-emptive action and proclaiming their counties 2nd Amendment sanctuaries. This means that the sheriffs in those counties will not enforce statewide gun-control measures in their counties.

Democrat Attorney General promises to enforce gun-control

Virginia’s Attorney General Mark Herring says that these proclamations don’t carry any weight and that he will enforce new gun-control legislation. He also said, “localities and local constitutional officers cannot nullify state laws and must comply with gun violence prevention measures that the General Assembly may enact.”

The National Guard Responds

One lawmaker suggested that the governor might have to use the Virginia National Guard to enforce gun-control laws, but the Guard responded, “We understand and respect the passion people feel for the U.S. Constitution and 2nd Amendment rights. We will not speculate about the possible use of the Virginia National Guard.”

Proposed punishment for dissenting law enforcement officials

Another lawmaker has responded to the 2A Sanctuary County proclamations with proposed legislation that, if passed, will punish any law enforcement official who “willfully refuses to perform the duties of his employment,” by termination and ineligibility for law-enforcement employment for 12 months.

Pray for the great state of Virginia.
